Polling in Bagalkot was largely smooth with 68.74% turnout, despite minor glitches and complaints about inadequate voter amenities.
Polling went on smoothly in Bagalkot except for a few glitches on Thursday. Of the total 2,59,797 voters in the constituency, 1,32,775 are women and 1,26,999 men.
As much as 68.74% voting was recorded at the end of the day in the constituency.
Two incidents, however, delayed voting by a few minutes in two booths in Bagalkot on Thursday.
In booth number 322, Hanumanth Rao Joshi complained that someone else had cast his vote.
Polling officials then found that when his son had arrived to cast his vote, one officer had checked it wrongly and put a check mark before his name. Once this was confirmed, the senior citizen was allowed to vote.
But this created confusion for some time and those in the queue had to wait for a few minutes. The polling officers asked the media cameras to leave the booth.

Naam Tamilar Katchi (NTK) chief coordinator Seeman on Thursday said the upcoming Assembly elections would witness a contest between two sides — one that had long been a source of problem for public and other that had come forward to resolve them. Addressing the people at the election campaign organised in Nagercoil, he said the real competition was between these two sides, and appealed the people to support to NTK candidates, noting that they had come forward to resolve the issues affecting the people across various sectors such as medicine, teaching and sanitation.
