Senior Congress leader criticizes Pawan Kalyan's Sanatan Dharma rhetoric, warns against SC categorization move for social unity.
Senior Congress leader Chinta Mohan on Saturday flayed Deputy Chief Minister K. Pawan Kalyan for his rhetoric on the ‘Sanatana Dharma’, at the Jana Sena Party’s (JSP) Foundation Day celebrations at Chitrada.
Speaking to the media at Madanapalle in Annamayya district, Mr. Chinta Mohan said that the ideology of Pawan Kalyan to bring unity in diversity through Sanatana Dharma will not augur well, but lead to disunity and confrontation among the communities. “The true spirit of Sanatana Dharma is to eradicate poverty and untouchability in society, which remained the hallmark of the Congress party,” he said.
The Congress leader cautioned Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu to desist from the SC categorisation move, as it would bring social divide in the country. He said that Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin’s north-south divide remarks held significance in the wake of disturbing political trends in the south, and that the SC categorisation move will only expedite the threat perception.

In , the grape capital of India and host of the Simhastha Kumbh Mela every 12 years, environmental concerns over a plan to cut 1,800 trees for the proposed Sadhugram project in the historic Tapovan area have sharpened political fault lines ahead of local body elections. The issue has pitted both Sena factions against the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), which leads the ruling Mahayuti alliance in Maharashtra. While Eknath Shinde, Deputy Chief Minister and Shiv Sena chief, and Uddhav Thackeray, chief of the Shiv Sena (UBT), remain political rivals, their parties have found rare common ground in Tapovan, where authorities propose clearing trees across 34 acres to build Sadhugram and a MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences and Exhibitions) hub, as part of a ₹300-crore infrastructure push linked to the pilgrimage.
