₹12,000 per year to be disbursed to landless labourers from Dec. 28, says Bhatti
The people’s government will implement its promise of providing ₹12,000 per year to landless labourers from December 28, and the first instalment of ₹6,000 will be disbursed on the same day the Congress will celebrate its Formation Day, said Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka.
Addressing the media in Khammam on Sunday, Mr. Vikramarka, who holds the Finance and Energy portfolio, lashed out at BRS working president and Sircilla MLA K.T. Rama Rao and Siddipet MLA T. Harish Rao accusing them of carrying out a misinformation campaign against the Congress government.
For 10 long years, the BRS rulers looted the State by borrowing huge sums of loans in the name of various projects, including Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Project (KLIP), he charged, saying the Congress government is forced to take loans to clear the debts left behind by the BRS government.
Reading out statistics, he said, “The Congress government borrowed ₹54,118 crore as per the Fiscal Responsibility and Budget Management (FRBM) norms this year to clear old loans borrowed during BRS rule, along with interest totalling ₹66,782 crore.”
The Congress government soon after coming to power released a White Paper detailing the financial position of the State, he noted. After the formation of Telangana State in 2014, the BRS government had directly taken loans to the tune of ₹72,658 crore and the borrowing further rose to ₹3,89,673 crore by 2024, he alleged quoting statistics.
The previous BRS regime through its guarantee raised ₹5,893 crore in the name of various corporations during its tenure and these loans rose to a whopping ₹95,462 crore by 2024, he said.
He reiterated that despite the tough financial situation, the Congress government spent ₹50,953 crore on agriculture and farmers’ welfare in one year. The people’s government had spent ₹7,625 crore for Rythu Bharosa, ₹21,000 crore for loan waiver, ₹1,514 crore for Rythu Bima premium, ₹11,270 crore for subsidy on agriculture pump sets, ₹9,795 crore for irrigation works and so on, he added.
