Water level in Papanasam dam on Friday stood at 76.50 feet (the maximum permissible level is 143 feet) with an inflow of 6426.63 cusecs and discharge of 623 cusecs. The level in the Manimuthar dam stood at 87.28 feet (118 feet) with an inflow of 6,656.08 cusecs and discharge of 17.50 cusecs. The rainfall recorded in the 24 hours ending at 6 a.m. on Friday was (in mm): Cheranmahadevi 225.20, Ambasamudram 366, Palayamkottai 261, Tirunelveli 132, Manimutharu 298, Papanasam 221, Servalar dam 237, Kannadian Anicut 351.40, Manjolai 320, Kakkachi 350, Nalumukku 310 and Oothu recorded 540 mm rainfall.
