Police and doctors emphasize helmet use for road safety, distributing helmets and promoting awareness to prevent injuries and save lives.
The police, in collaboration with United Hospital, conducted a road safety awareness drive here on Tuesday, distributing helmets to journalists and others and highlighting the importance of wearing helmets while riding two-wheelers.
Police Commissioner S.D. Sharanappa emphasised that helmets are a critical safety measure that can prevent serious head injuries and save lives.
He urged all riders and pillion passengers to consistently wear helmets and noted that the city police are committed to strict enforcement of helmet rules to ensure road safety.
Dr. Sharanappa said that the awareness initiative aimed to educate citizens on the importance of road safety and encourage mandatory helmet use.
The officer reiterated that consistent adherence to safety measures can significantly reduce fatalities and injuries among two-wheeler riders.
United Hospital chairman and managing director Vikram Siddareddy noted that helmets provide structural protection to the skull and brain, significantly reducing the risk of traumatic brain injury during accidents.
