Uttarakhand CM orders crackdown on illegal residents with fake IDs, directs police to tackle drug mafia and cyber crimes.
Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Thursday (April 17, 2025) directed the police to launch a drive to track down people living illegally in the State with fake identification papers.
He also directed the police to take strict action against those who help the “intruders” procure fake certificates.
At a meeting with senior police officials, the Chief Minister instructed them to take strict action against the drug mafia and all those who disturb the law and order situation.
“Uttarakhand is known as a peaceful State in the country and the world, but the police administration has to be vigilant so that the criminal elements do not consider it their safe haven and do not misuse the peaceful image of the State,” he added.
Taking cognisance of the delay in filing first information reports (FIR) on cyber crimes, Mr. Dhami sought a report on the action taken so far in such cases. He directed the police department to improve the work culture at all levels, and asked the Director General of Police to take action against policemen found guilty of any misconduct or offence.
