The video shows Leland Nisky being caught up in an avalanche while climbing an icy mountain.
A professional ice climber found himself almost in the jaws of death during his solo climb along an icy trail in Colorado. It all happened when Leland Nisky was ice climbing the top of The Ribbon in Ouray, Colorado. He was hit by an avalanche while he was 400 feet off the ground.
Nisky shared a horrifying video of his experience and it is definitely not for the faint-hearted. The clip shows Nisky climbing an icy path along the The Ribbon trail. However, he is suddenly hit by an avalanche. Nisky refuses to let go and stays put on the spot and even digs his tools deeper to get a stronger grip.
“This was probably one of the most terrifying experiences I’ve had while solo climbing. Took absolutely every ounce of strength I could muster to keep holding onto my tools,” Nisky captioned the video.

“I was actually switching my hands to place my tool when it hit. It was terrifying. I’ve been partially buried in an avalanche years ago in Washington, and the same terror overtook me,” Nisky told DailyMail.
“I knew if I stayed terrified, I probably would die, so I concentrated on controlling my breathing, hugging in tight to the wall to prevent snow buildup on my body, and tucked my head down to breathe a little air bubble,” he added.
