Despite upgraded features like seat belts, WiFi, charging ports and cushioned seating, passengers were seen misusing the facilities of an MTC bus in Chennai by putting their feet on the seats.
A social media post calling out civic sense on a premium Chennai bus has gone viral, with MTC Chennai acknowledging the issue and promising action.
Shared on X by Sreenivas, the post describes an incident aboard a premium bus operated by MTC Chennai. According to him, despite upgraded features like seat belts, WiFi, charging ports and cushioned seating, passengers were seen misusing the facilities within minutes of boarding.
“Took an MTC premium bus today in Chennai. Brand new premium bus with seat belts, WiFi, mobile charging sockets and cushioned seats,” he wrote, before detailing what followed. “A 50 year old man had his slippers off, feet on the opposite cushioned seat. A few minutes later, college kids got in and did the same thing.”
Calling out the behaviour across age groups, he added, “Different generations, same zero civic sense. We really don’t deserve nice things.”
