A video, that has now gone viral on social media platforms, shows Irina Maniukina dusting off the ashes of her grand piano and playing one last song.
Ashes strewn around; debris scattered across the floor, but the piano stood tall, bearing the brunt of war. It is probably true, as the saying goes, “Music will heal the world”. No, we are not talking about the plot of any movie. This is in fact a real-life heart-wrenching story of a professional pianist who came back to her house near Kyiv only to find it in a decapitated state.
Professional pianist Irina Maniukina was filmed by her daughter Karina as she said goodbye to her family home in Bila Tserkva, 80 km south of Kyiv. A video, that has now gone viral on social media platforms, shows her dusting off the ashes of her grand piano and playing one last song.
According to a report by DailyMail, Irina was forced to flee from her home after a Russian airstrike left the area in ruins on Saturday, March 5.
As the camera pans out to show the terrifying visuals of the ruined city, Irina can be seen playing a mournful set by Frédéric Chopin.
Take a look:
The video has been viewed over a million times and people couldn’t stop expressing their condolences for the dreadful situation in the area.
The video also made its way to Reddit. Many people found Irina’s video to be of the same tone as that of Roman Polanski’s The Pianist. Just like Irina, Adrien Brody was seen playing a set by Chopin in the Oscar-winning movie.
