After Pak denies abduction claim, Baloch rebels release new video of captive soldier
India Today
'I fought for Pakistan, and today the Pakistani Army does not acknowledge me,' one of the alleged soldiers in Baloch rebel custody can be heard saying in the video.
The separatist militant group the Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) has released a video purportedly showing seven Pakistani Army personnel it claims to have captured recently, directly challenging reported denials by the Pakistani military establishment that the men are its soldiers.
The new footage, which appears to show the alleged soldiers kneeling on the ground in rugged terrain with armed men standing beside them, has emerged with just three days remaining before the February 22 deadline set by the group for a proposed prisoner exchange. The BLA has warned that the detainees could face execution if negotiations do not take place within that period.
The Pakistani army officials have reportedly claimed that no soldiers were missing or in militant custody, contradicting visuals circulating online.
Challenging this stance, the detainees displayed their official service cards and national identity documents on camera, claiming they were formally recruited, issued identification, and deployed by the army.
Reports had earlier suggested that the BLA had captured seven personnel last week. However, the current video shows eight people in custody.
One visibly emotional soldier says words to the effect of: “I fight for Pakistan, and today the Pakistani Army does not own me.” He questions how the army can deny that they are its personnel, asking tearfully, “How can the army say that we are not their personnel?”
