Saviour of South Asia: Pakistan PM Sharif showers praise on Trump at Peace Summit

At Trump's Board of Peace summit in Washington, Pakistan PM Shehbaz Sharif praised him as a man of peace and saviour of South Asia, reviving disputed ceasefire claims involving India.
At a high-profile peace summit in Washington, Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif seemed less interested in the agenda and more intent on praising Donald Trump, calling him a “man of peace” and a “saviour of South Asia.”
“Your timely and very effective intervention to achieve a ceasefire between India and Pakistan potentially averted the loss of tens of millions of people,” Sharif said. “You have truly proved to be a man of peace. And let me say you are truly a saviour of South Asia.”

Sharif’s remarks revived a claim that Trump had brokered calm between India and Pakistan during last year’s military standoff.
India has repeatedly denied any role by the Trump administration in facilitating a ceasefire during the military standoff.
“We deeply appreciate your unique initiative and your dynamic leadership in advancing peaceful solutions to conflicts across the globe,” Sharif said in his address.
