Thar driver refuses to move, argues with tempo driver on narrow hill road in Manali

The now-viral video showed both the Thar and tempo halted side by side on a tight mountain stretch, with the drivers apparently arguing over who should move first.
A heated exchange between the drivers of a Mahindra Thar and a tempo on a narrow hill road in Manali was caught on camera as a video of the incident was shared on X by off-roader Rattan Dhillon.
The video showed both vehicles halted side by side on a tight mountain stretch, with the drivers apparently arguing over who should move first. A man filming from his car on the same road narrated the scene as it unfolded.
“Abhi hum Manali mein hain aur aap dekh sakte ho kya haal hai (Right now, we are in Manali and you can see the situation),” he said, adding that a Punjab-registered Thar was in front of him.
He claimed that the Thar driver was asking the tempo driver to move further inward despite having enough space on his own side. “Police waale bhi usko samjha rahe ki iss side mein bohat jagah hai lekin woh nahi maan raha hai (Even the police are explaining to him that there is a lot of space on this side, but he isn’t listening),” he said.
According to the man, the Thar driver repeatedly steered towards the tempo’s side. “Yeh phir bhi Tempo waale ki side mein kaat raha hai gaadi baar baar. Uske paas itni jagah hai phir bhi woh Tempo waale ke saath chipka ke chal raha hai (He keeps cutting towards the tempo’s side again and again. He has so much space, yet he’s driving right next to the tempo),” he said.
Advising caution, the man said visitors to the hills should consider hiring a local driver if they are not confident. “Isliye bolte hai, pahadon mein aa rahe ho, toh ya toh local driver le lo agar aapko chalaani nahi aati hai. Risk mat lo, safe drive karo (That’s why they say, if you’re coming to the mountains, hire a local driver if you don’t know how to drive here. Don’t take risks, drive safely),” he said.
