His latest comments marked his most forceful rebuttal of Trump to date
Former Vice President Mike Pence on Friday directly rebutted Donald Trump's false claims that Mr Pence somehow could have overturned the results of the 2020 election, saying that the former president was simply “wrong.”
In a speech to the conservative Federalist Society in Florida, Mr Pence addressed Mr Trump's intensifying efforts this week to advance the false narrative that he could have done something to prevent Joe Biden from taking office.
“President Trump is wrong,” Mr Pence said. “I had no right to overturn the election.” While Mr Pence in the past has defended his actions on Jan. 6 and said that he and Mr Trump will likely never see “eye to eye” on what happened that day, the remarks Friday marked his most forceful rebuttal of Mr Trump to date.

The Union and State governments provided support in several ways to the needy people, but private institutions should also extend help, especially to those requiring medical assistance, said C.P. Rajkumar, Managing Director, Nalam Multispeciality Hospital, here on Saturday. Speaking at a function to honour Inspector General of Police V. Balakrishnan and neurologist S. Meenakshisundaram with C. Palaniappan Memorial Award for their contribution to society and Nalam Kappom medical adoption of Type-1 diabetic children, he said the governments implemented numerous welfare programmes, but the timely help by a private hospital or a doctor in the neighbourhood to the people in need would go a long way in safeguarding their lives.
