Amid the ruckus and adjournments in the Lower House, the Opposition parties led by the Congress submitted a no-confidence motion against Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla on Tuesday (February 10, 2026). The Lok Sabha was adjourned till 2.00 p.m. today. Chief Whip of Congress in the Lok Sabha Kodikunnil Suresh and party Whip Mohammed Jawed Ahmed handed over the notice to the Secretary-General Utpal Kumar Singh, sources told The Hindu.
The Trinamool Congress (TMC) did not join other Opposition parties in signing the resolution seeking the removal of Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla. While agreeing with the objective, the party’s national general secretary and Lok Sabha leader Abhishek Banerjee argued for an alternate path of “restraint” and a “constructive and calibrative” approach. Though TMC appeared reluctant to resort immediately to the “last option” of moving for the removal of the Speaker, it expressed no such hesitation in pursuing an impeachment motion against Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Gyanesh Kumar. In the CEC’s case, Mr. Banerjee said, all avenues had been “explored and exhausted.”
The BJP on Tuesday (February 10, 2026) slammed the Opposition for submitting a notice for moving a resolution to remove Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla from office and said the time has come for India to “impeach” Leader of the Opposition Rahul Gandhi and the Congress from politics. “Those who have been impeached of their consciousness are the ones who want to impeach all the constitutional posts of India,” BJP national spokesperson Sambit Patra also told reporters when asked about the Opposition’s notice.
The voter count in Assam has dropped by 2.43 lakh after the conclusion of the special revision of electoral rolls, data released by the office of the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) has revealed. A total of 29,646 booth-level officers were engaged across Assam for the special revision, which differed from the special intensive revision (SIR) conducted simultaneously in 12 other States and Union Territories.
Rohit Pawar addressed a press conference, raising doubts about Ajit Pawar’s air crash. He said, “Everyone has this question in their mind - was it an accident or something else? People still think, there were six persons in the plane, and that the sixth person was Dada, and he will return. Even I had wished for the same. But may it be his watch, or some other belongings, it was Dada. He used to keep his wrist watch 15 minutes ahead of time. It had shown 9 a.m. when it was recovered.”
The Supreme Court on Tuesday (February 10, 2026) asked the Centre to ascertain whether there is a nationwide network or State-specific group behind the incidents of children going missing from different parts of the country. A Bench of Justices B.V. Nagrathna and Ujjal Bhuyan emphasised the need to ascertain whether there is a pattern behind these incidents or if they are random ones, and asked the Centre to collate data from all States.

Three people, including an elderly man and a woman, died, and 12 others were injured in Raichur district’s Deodurga taluk on Tuesday. According to police sources, one person died on the spot, the other at the hospital, and 12 were injured in an accident that occurred near Karigudda village in Deodurga taluk.

Belagavi-based NGO, Pyaas Foundation, has begun the task of rejuvenating a century-old well in Vadgaon Nazar Camp. Mayor Mangesh Pawar launched the work on Monday. The well was built by the Kings of the Kurundwad princely state in the 1920s. The stone masonry structure once served as the primary source of water for the entire village of Vadgaon, which is now part of Belagavi city.
