Revenue officials in Tiruchi stage a road roko stir demanding better pay and filling of vacant posts, leading to arrests.
Revenue department staff affiliated to the Federation of Revenue Association were arrested after they staged a demonstration and resorted to a road roko stir in support of their demands in Tiruchi on Tuesday.
The association members assembled near the Collectorate carrying placards containing their demands and resorted to the stir when they were all arrested by the police.
The staff demanded that the State government provide them with enhanced pay and fill the vacant posts in the department, among others. Police sources said around 175 employees were arrested during the stir.

Three people, including an elderly man and a woman, died, and 12 others were injured in Raichur district’s Deodurga taluk on Tuesday. According to police sources, one person died on the spot, the other at the hospital, and 12 were injured in an accident that occurred near Karigudda village in Deodurga taluk.

Belagavi-based NGO, Pyaas Foundation, has begun the task of rejuvenating a century-old well in Vadgaon Nazar Camp. Mayor Mangesh Pawar launched the work on Monday. The well was built by the Kings of the Kurundwad princely state in the 1920s. The stone masonry structure once served as the primary source of water for the entire village of Vadgaon, which is now part of Belagavi city.
