Two youths arrested in Chennai for breaching Tamil Nadu Governor's convoy while evading a police checkpoint.
Chennai City Police (clarification sought from reporter) arrested two men for breaching Tamil Nadu Governor R.N. Ravi’s convoy on Sunday (February 8, 2026) night while attempting to dodge a police checkpoint.
The incident occurred when Mr. Ravi was returning to Lok Bhavan after attending a wedding reception in Thiruvanmiyur. The accused, Anburaj (22) and Jeeva (22), riding a motorcycle, entered the convoy near the Adyar Cancer Institute, bypassing security vehicles.
Police personnel pursued the bike and detained them. Investigations revealed that the two men, natives of Kallakurichi and Villupuram districts and employees of a private firm in Perungalathur, had visited the city, consumed alcohol, and were heading back to Perungalathur when they encountered a police check point and tried to evade it by slipping into the convoy.
They were arrested, produced before a magistrate, and remanded to judicial custody.

Three people, including an elderly man and a woman, died, and 12 others were injured in Raichur district’s Deodurga taluk on Tuesday. According to police sources, one person died on the spot, the other at the hospital, and 12 were injured in an accident that occurred near Karigudda village in Deodurga taluk.
