CM inaugurates Ponnappa Nadar’s statue in Nagercoil

CM M.K. Stalin inaugurated Ponnappa Nadar’s statue in Nagercoil, honoring the late Congress leader’s contributions to Tamil Nadu.
Chief Minister M.K. Stalin inaugurated late Congress leader Ponnappa Nadar’s statue in Nagercoil on Tuesday.
The statue of Ponnappa Nadar, fondly called as ‘Kumari Komedhagam’ has been installed at Sir C.P. Ramasamy Iyer memorial park in Nagercoil at a cost of ₹50 lakh.
During the year 2025-2026, Demand of Grants of Public Relations Department, it was announced a statue would be erected for Ponnappa Nadar in recognition for his role along with Marshall Nesamani in the struggle of merger of Kanniyakumari district with Tamil Nadu. He was also elected into Tamil Nadu legislative assembly three times.
The statue has been installed as part of centenary year celebration of the leader.
At the inaugural event, the Chief Minister also facilitated the family members of Ponnappa Nadar.
Earlier, he inaugurated M.K. Stalin Padaippagam and late Chief Minister M.Karunanidhi’s statue in Puthalam.
