KTR faults ‘double standards’ of police in enforcing law
HYDERABAD
BRS working president K.T. Rama Rao and several BRS MLAs visited former MP and MLA Balka Suman and others in Adilabad jail on Tuesday. They are lodged in jail in a case related to an alleged attack on Minister G. Vivek.
Speaking after meeting Mr. Suman and others, Mr. Rama Rao said the people had taught a lesson to the Congress and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the municipal elections. He alleged that the Congress party had threatened, terrorised and physically attacked the BRS candidates and the ruling party had also made a mockery of the result in some municipalities by encouraging defection of BRS and other parties’ ward members/councillors.
In Kyathanpally of Mancherial district, the BRS (10) and CPI (4) alliance had won 14 out of 22 councillor seats, but the Congress which had won only 7 seats had defeated democracy with the misuse of power, particularly by Mr. Vivek. Such tactics were also employed at Ibrahimpatnam in Rangareddy district.
When Mr. Suman and others questioned the ruling party’s excesses, cases were foisted against them. However, former MLA T. Jagga Reddy and Nizamabad MP D. Arvind who used unparliamentary language against the police on duty on the day of municipal polling were not touched even after complaints.
Later, he visited the IT tower under construction at Adilabad and said it was sanctioned by the previous BRS Government with a view to extending the fruits of IT development in the State even in remote areas such as Adilabad. Completion of the first phase and its operation would provide employment opportunities to about 700 youth and the second phase would create another 6,000 jobs.

Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar lost his composure in the state assembly after opposition MLAs accused his government of ruling with “guns and bullets”. The clash erupted over a police baton charge on protesting chowkidars, triggering sharp exchanges between the JD(U)-BJP alliance and the RJD. The confrontation briefly plunged the House into turmoil before ministers stepped in to restore order.
