Udhayanidhi inaugurates new infrastructure projects in Chennai, enhancing community facilities including marriage halls, playgrounds, and libraries.
Deputy Chief Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin on Tuesday inaugurated completed civic infrastructure projects in seven locations across Chennai.
A large number of residents gathered on Singanna Street in Chintadripet as Mr. Udhayanidhi inaugurated the Muthamizharignar Kalaignar Marriage Hall in the presence of CMDA Minister P.K. Sekarbabu and MP Dayanidhi Maran. The air conditioned hall is the largest such facility constructed by the Greater Chennai Corporation (GCC) in Chintadripet. It was built with funding from the Local Area Development Scheme (LADS) funds of Mr. Udhayanidhi and MP P. Wilson, in addition to funds from Singara Chennai 2.0.
The facility has a built-up area of 19,610 sq.ft and a seating capacity of 350 in the auditorium. The marriage hall was constructed after the demolition of an old shopping complex and a dilapidated hall built during Chief Minister M.K. Stalin’s tenure as Chennai Mayor.
Mr. Udhayanidhi also inaugurated Annal Dr. Ambedkar Marriage Hall at Rajaji Nagar in Triplicane. The facility was also constructed with funding from the LADS of MPs N.R. Elango, MM. Abdulla, and K.R.N. Rajeshkumar.
On Begum Fifth Street in ward 119 of Teynampet zone, the Deputy Chief Minister inaugurated an indoor stadium with funding from the LADS of MP Dayanidhi Maran and the Ward Development Scheme of ward 119 councillor V. Kamala Chezhian.
Mr. Udhayanidhi also inaugurated Kalaignar Centenary Playground in Korukkupet and the Ennore Bus Stand, which was built with Tiruvottiyur MLA K.P. Shankar’s LADS fund. He opened a library at Kathivakkam in Ennore. Over 50,000 students in the area are expected to benefit from the facility, which will help them prepare for competitive exams. An urban primary health centre of the GCC in Kathivakkam was also inaugurated.
