Step-by-step approach followed, no advance payment: Bharat Biotech on Brazil Covaxin row

Hyderabad-based vaccine-maker Bharat Biotech said it followed the procedure laid down globally for procurement of vaccines by governments and did not overcharge or receive advance payments fro Covaxin from Brazil.

In the wake of Brazil suspending a $324-million deal for Covaxin shots over allegations of graft, the vaccine’s manufacturer, Bharat Biotech, has denied any wrongdoing and claimed it followed a "step-by-step" approach to get regulatory approval in the South American country. The Hyderabad-based vaccine-maker said it followed the procedure laid down globally for procurement of vaccines by governments.
