Sri Lanka’s opposition MP Harsha De Silva compared the situation in the country to the 1991 Indian economic crisis. He stated that Sri Lanka can come out of the crisis only if all the political parties are united and take responsibility for rescuing it.
Harsha de Silva, an MP with the opposition Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) party in Sri Lanka, has said that the situation in the country is similar to that of India’s 1991 economic crisis. He added that Sri Lanka will be able to come out of this crisis and that is only if the political parties here stand together.
“At the moment, Sri Lanka is in a situation similar to the economic crisis in India in 1991, which was revived by all political parties working together along with the efficient work of Dr Manmohan Singh and Montek singh Ahluwaliya. The Indian political parties were united and they came out of the crisis, and Sri Lanka will too, but only if the political parties here stand together.”
“The plan will fail if the parties are separated. The president here has to create a platform for the political parties to come together," said Harsha de Silva.
