South Star Rail and Tour Times is offering three 14-day tour packages to the North East, along with Visakhapatnam in Andhra Pradesh and Kolkata in West Bengal, in a single train journey, starting April 25.
“The specially designed tourist train under public-private partnership with the Railways covers some of the most scenic and culturally significant destination in the country,” South Star Rail Director Vignesh told reporters in Mangaluru on March 25.
South Star Rail and Tour Times is a registered service provider of the Bharat Gaurav Tourist Train of the Indian Railways.
One of the packages includes a visit to Gangtok in Sikkim and Darjeeling in West Bengal.
North East destinations of Guwahati, Shillong, Cherrapunji, Mawlynnong and Dawki are covered in the second package while the third package is an international tour to Bhutan, covering Thimpu, Punakha, Paro and Chele La Pass.
He said the North East package train will depart from Madurai with convenient boarding points in Kerala. Tourists travelling from Mangaluru will be provided with complimentary transfers to Palakkad, Ottapalam or Thrissur, based on their preference.
