Less than 24 hours after actress Priyanka Chopra announced to the world that she and her husband Nick Jonas had just welcomed their first baby via a surrogate mother, author Taslima Nasreen took to Twitter to express her views on the practice of surrogacy.
“Surrogacy is possible because there are poor women. Rich people always want the existence of poverty in the society for their own interests. If you badly need to raise a child, adopt a homeless one. Children must inherit your traits - it is just a selfish narcissistic ego,” she wrote on Twitter.

Surrogacy refers to an arrangement in which a woman agrees to carry and give birth to a child on behalf of another person or couple. The process involves fertilizing the egg of a woman with the sperm of a man through medical procedures to make an embryo. The embryo is then implanted in the uterus of the surrogate mother who gives birth to the baby.
