Om Raut reacts after Tanhaji’s big win at National Awards, congratulates Ajay Devgn

Om Raut is happy after Tanhaji's big win at the National Awards, He also congratulated the film's lead actor Ajay Devgn.

Director Om Raut’s 2020 historical action film Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior won big at the 68th National Film Awards. The film is based on the life of Maratha warrior Tanaji Malusarehas, It bagged three awards — including the Best Actor Award, Best Popular Film Providing Wholesome Entertainment and Best Costume Design. The director is totally elated at this new milestone.

Om Raut told a news publication, "Tanhaji-The Unsung Warrior is my labour of love. The film had the wholehearted support of Ajay Devgn Sir, who not only agreed play the lead but also took the efforts to produce it. I’m happy the film has won the Best Film Award for wholesome entertainment at the 68th National Awards. I also congratulate Ajay Sir for his win as Best Actor in the film. He was Tanhaji in the truest form. This would be incomplete without a special mention for Saif sir whose support has been crucial for the outcome of this film."

The director added, "I would also like to congratulate Nachiket Barve and Mahesh Sherla who won Best Costume Designer for the same. A film is not a one-man show, it is the effort of its entire team, the cast and crew are the pillars of each project. This award is for each person who worked on Tanhaji- they are all my unsung heroes. I am happy our film got commercial success and true appreciation. Awards and rewards are truly heartening."

Ajay Devgn is the recipient of the Best Actor Award at the 68th National Film Awards. Talking about the same, he said, “I’m elated to win the Best Actor Award for Tanhaji—The Unsung Warrior at the 68th National Awards along with Suriya who won for Soorarai Pottru. I thank everyone, most of all my creative team, the audience and my fans. I also express my gratitude to my parents & the Almighty for their blessings. Congratulations to all the other winners.”

Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior has Ajay Devgn play the titular role of Tanaji Malusare, a Maratha warrior in the army of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. Kajol, as Savitribai Malusare, is Tanaji's on-screen wife. Saif Ali Khan is seen in a negative role of Udaybhan, a Rajput official, who works for Mughal Emperor Aurangzeb. Saif has received a lot of praise for his performance in the role.
