Nivin Pauly has dismissed comparisons with Mohanlal, opening up about his laid-back and instinctive approach to acting ahead of the release of his upcoming film Prathichaya on March 26.
Actor Nivin Pauly has addressed ongoing comparisons between his acting style and that of Mohanlal, making it clear that he does not see himself in the same league. Speaking ahead of the release of his political drama Prathichaya, Nivin said, “Lalettan is Lalettan; he is unparalleled,” urging audiences to avoid drawing parallels with the veteran star.
Opening up about his craft while talking to the media, Nivin described his acting approach as instinctive and relaxed. He revealed that he has not formally studied acting and instead relies heavily on his directors’ guidance. “I follow the guidance of my directors and treat acting in a relaxed way,” he said, adding that he does not spend too much time memorising lines before a shoot.
Interestingly, this method bears resemblance to Mohanlal’s widely discussed style of performance. Nivin shared that he typically takes a few days on set to understand the director’s vision, after which he aligns his performance accordingly. “Once that happens, I do not take much tension,” he explained.
The actor also spoke about his admiration for Mohanlal, expressing interest in collaborating with him again after their 2018 film Kayamkulam Kochunni. He added that he would be keen on working on a film similar in tone to Meiyazhagan, starring Karthi and Arvind Swamy.
Directed by B Unnikrishnan, Prathichaya is set to hit theatres on March 26. The film marks Nivin’s latest outing in a political backdrop, a genre that often demands a nuanced performance approach.
