Actor Mustafa Ahmed on Dhurandhar 2 propaganda claims: I respect everyone's agenda
India Today
Mustafa Ahmed has addressed claims that Dhurandhar: The Revenge promotes propaganda. The actor dismissed the idea, saying the film's intent is not driven by any agenda.
Dhurandhar: The Revenge, directed by Aditya Dhar, has been riding high at the box office since its March 19 release, earning praise for its action sequences, storytelling, and ensemble cast. While audiences and industry insiders have lauded the sequel, a section of viewers labelled the film as ‘propaganda’. Mustafa Ahmed, who plays Rizwan alongside Ranveer Singh, has addressed these claims, dismissing them and defending the film’s intent.
While speaking to Bollywood Cut Uncut, Mustafa said, “Ek insaan ka propaganda, dusre insaan ka agenda hota hai. Mera naam Mustafa Ahmed hai. Aditya ji ko mere saath kaam karne ki kya zarurat hai? Woh agar kisi propaganda ki taraf ja rahe hain, toh kisi Mukesh ya Mahesh ko bhi le sakte the. Itna koi kisi ke liye kyun karega? Agar kisi ka agenda hai, main sabki respect karta hoon."
Translate - (One person’s propaganda is another person’s agenda. My name is Mustafa Ahmed. Why would Aditya ji need to work with me? If they were going towards some propaganda, they could have taken any Mukesh or Mahesh. Why would anyone do so much for someone? I respect everyone’s agenda.)
He clarified that he wasn’t trying to play it safe, adding that he approached Dhurandhar with complete sincerity, just like the rest of the cast, who gave their roles their all.
Mustafa further explained that he did not compromise anywhere while portraying his character. He emphasised that, contrary to what some might say about sacrificing one’s conscience for fame, he did nothing of that sort.
The actor also mentioned that he can only speak in his own way and for himself, and that neither his character did anything wrong nor did he witness anything around him that felt inappropriate.

By weaving in real-life flashpoints – from Atiq Ahmed's killing to demonetisation in India and Narendra Modi's 2014 victory speech – Dhurandhar: The Revenge blurs the line between fiction and reality. Aditya Dhar uses recent history to lend urgency, scale, and unsettling authenticity to the gritty narrative.
