Hyderabad Collector assures no LPG shortage, urges residents to avoid panic booking and trust available supplies.
Hyderabad District Collector Hari Chandana Dasari clarified that there is no shortage of domestic LPG cylinders in the district, even as demand has risen in recent days. She urged residents not to be misled by rumours and to avoid panic booking.
Chairing a district-level Fuel Supply Monitoring Committee meeting on Wednesday, Ms. Hari Chandana reviewed the availability and distribution of LPG cylinders across Hyderabad. “Ensuring uninterrupted supply to government hospitals, hostels and domestic consumers remains a priority for the administration,” she said.
Representatives from HPCL, BPCL and IOCL informed the collector that adequate stocks are available and that supply to dealers is continuing without interruption despite the increased demand. However, dealers of HP Gas, Bharat Gas and Indane Gas pointed out that bookings have risen sharply due to panic among consumers, even though supplies remain sufficient.
To address consumer grievances, the district administration has set up a control room to handle LPG-related issues. The Collector advised residents to book refills only after 25 days from their previous delivery and appealed for cooperation with delivery personnel.
Joint Commissioner of Police, Hyderabad, N. Swetha, who attended the meeting, said adequate security arrangements would be provided for LPG delivery staff and transport vehicles. “Teams from the Police and Civil Supplies departments are working to curb hoarding, black marketing and any disruption to the supply chain. Strict action would be taken against those attempting to obstruct gas transport, agencies or storage facilities,” she added.
