Sharmila criticizes Avinash Reddy's remarks on Viveka’s murder, calling Jagan a disgrace and questioning his leadership and support.
Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) president Y.S. Sharmila on Wednesday strongly criticised YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) MP Y.S. Avinash Reddy over his recent statements regarding the murder of former MP Y.S. Vivekananda Reddy.
Addressing the media at the Visakhapatnam airport, Ms. Sharmila condemned Mr. Avinash’s allegations suggesting the involvement of Rajasekhar, husband of the slain leader’s daughter Suneetha Narreddy, in the murder. She also objected to his claim that the “heart attack theory” was initially created by Dr. Suneetha.
Ms. Sharmila alleged that Mr. Avinash’s remarks were an attempt to protect himself in the case. She said that Dr. Suneetha was in Hyderabad at the time of the murder, whereas Mr. Avinash was present in Pulivendula and in a better position to influence the police and the media.
She further claimed that a Telugu daily that was closely associated with the then Leader of the Opposition, Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy and his wife Y.S. Bharathi Reddy, was the first to report Vivekananda Reddy’s death as a “heart attack,” and then later claimed it as a “murder,” allegedly carried out by political opponents.
Ms. Sharmila also launched a sharp attack on her brother Mr. Jagan Mohan Reddy, calling him a “disgrace to the word brother.” ‘If Jagan like brother exists, there is no need of any enemy,” she said.
Ms. Sharmila alleged that the narrative surrounding the case kept shifting under Mr. Jagan Mohan Reddy’s leadership, from initially terming it as a heart attack, then calling it a murder and blaming the political opponents, and then demanding a CBI probe, and later stating such a probe was unnecessary after assuming power.
