Student from Nanguneri in Tamil Nadu’s Tirunelveli district, who came under the brutal attack from his schoolmates in August 2023, has been assaulted again by unidentified persons; police suspect link to 2023 attackers
The Nanguneri student, who came under the brutal attack from his schoolmates in August 2023, was assaulted again on Wednesday night (April 16, 2025) by unidentified persons.
Police said the 18-year-old student from Nanguneri and his sister were hacked by his schoolmates on August 9, 2023 due to prior enmity between the boy and the schoolmates. After undergoing multiple surgeries with the help of Tamil Nadu government, he and his younger sister slowly recovered from the attack.

Even as he is studying the first year in a government-aided college in Palayamkottai, he came in contact with a group of youth through a social networking app for LGBTQ people. When the group of youth asked him to come to Vasantha Nagar near District Science Centre on Wednesday night, he went there. He was assaulted by a 5-member gang, which fled the spot after attacking him.
After he alerted his friends, he was admitted to the Tirunelveli Medical College Hospital for treatment.

On getting information, the police rushed to the spot and searched for the attackers, who could not be traced immediately.

The Shakespeare Millennium Club in collaboration with the Annai Velankanni Church (Society of St. Vincent De Paul), conducted a Free Medical Camp on November 23, 2025 at the church premises from 9 am to 6 pm, with Dr. Samundi Sankari and Dr. Divya Sivaraman of Srushti Hospitals, Dr. Sharada L N of Aramba, the Kumaran Dental Clinic, Lychee and Satya Physiotherapy Centre, according to a press release.
