Microsoft roped in for skilling youth in AI in Andhra Pradesh

AP Government partners with Microsoft to provide AI skills training to youth, teachers, and students in Andhra Pradesh.
The Andhra Pradesh Government on Thursday entered into an agreement with Microsoft for imparting skills to youth in Artificial Intelligence (AI) and advanced technologies in vocational education. Representatives of Microsoft and AP State Skill Development Corporation (APSSDC) signed the MoU in the presence of IT, Electronics & Communication and HRD Minister Nara Lokesh at the Secretariat on Thursday.
The objective of the agreement is to develop basic skills in AI and advanced technologies in vocational education among secondary school children and youth to produce a skilled workforce required for IT-based and other industries in the state.
On the occasion, Mr. Lokesh said that as per the agreement, Microsoft would provide skill development training to over two lakh youths in just one year, thereby enabling them to grab the opportunities emerging globally, mainly in AI.
Microsoft would also offer training in AI and cloud computing to 500 teachers and 10,000 engineering students from 50 rural engineering colleges. Besides, it would give training to 30,000 students from 30 Industrial Training Institutes ( ITIs) in digital productivity.
He said Microsoft would provide 100 hours of AI training to 50,000 persons in order to help the A.P. government improve the delivery of public services and for capacity building among the government officials.
The APSSDC would provide the necessary physical infrastructure for AI training in the respective areas. Microsoft would coordinate with the respective departments for imparting the AI training and give certification for introducing the AI curriculum in educational institutions.
A.P. Government Secretary (Education) Kona Sasidhar, APSSDC MD Ganesh Kumar, Executive Director Dinesh Kumar, Microsoft Head (South India- Government Business) Dinesh Kanakamedala and Microsoft South-Asia Director Sandeep Bandewar and others were present.
