Swapan Sett, a resident of Kolkata’s Balaram Dey Street, garnered a big round of applause from the internet after his story went viral. The elderly man’s wife was diagnosed with uterus cancer in 2002 and, in order to raise funds for her treatment, he travelled across the country to play the violin. Sett is a painter, sculptor and violinist. He decided to use his art to collect funds for his wife's treatment, and continued to do so for 17 years. His wife recovered in 2019. However, Sett continued to travel across cities and play the violin to entertain people. He is usually seen wearing a white kurta and dhoti while playing the instrument.
