Hyderabad Traffic Police would reopenTarnaka junction in Hyderabad on trial basis with specific traffic flow rules, urging public cooperation and adherence to signage.
The Hyderabad Traffic Police have issued a traffic advisory announcing the reopening of the Tarnaka junction for vehicular movement on a trial basis. The junction, which had been previously closed for almost a decade, will be accessible to traffic moving between Osmania University and Lalapet from April 18 to May 2, 2025.
According to the advisory issued by the joint commissioner of police (Traffic), Joel Davis, vehicles from Osmania University will be allowed to proceed straight towards Lalapet and take a right turn towards Habsiguda. Similarly, vehicles from Lalapet can move straight towards Osmania University and turn right towards Mettuguda.
However, certain restrictions will remain in place. Vehicles approaching from Mettuguda will not be permitted to turn right towards Osmania University. Instead, they must continue towards HUDA Complex, take a U-turn, and then turn left at Tarnaka to reach Osmania University. Likewise, vehicles from Habsiguda will not be allowed to turn right towards Lalapet. They must proceed towards IRISET, take a U-turn, and then turn left at Tarnaka to reach Lalapet.
The traffic changes will be implemented on a trial basis to assess the feasibility of regularising vehicular flow through the junction. The Traffic police requested commuters to note the changes and co-operate with them during the trial period.
The police have urged the public to follow signages and directions to avoid inconvenience.
