C.P. Radhakrishnan, the two-time MP from Coimbatore and senior leader of BJP has been appointed as the Governor of Jharkhand, among the 13 Governors appointed by President of India Draupadi Murmu this morning.
The 65-year-old former Tamil Nadu BJP president is a native of Tiruppur district and was elected to the Lok Sabha twice from the Coimbatore constituency in 1998 and 1999. He becomes the third BJP leader from Tamil Nadu to currently serve as a Governor, besides Tamilisai Soundararajan (Governor of Telangana) and L. Ganesan (Governor of Nagaland).
Several leaders including Chief Minister M.K. Stalin congratulated him. Mr. Radhakrishnan who addressed journalists at Tiruppur said he would use the opportunity to serve the tribal population and the downtrodden in Jharkhand.
Burglars broke open four bank ATMs on the Cuddalore-Chittoor Road (NH 38) at various spots in Tiruvannamalai district early today, looting a sum of over ₹75 lakh.
Among the four ATMs, three belong to SBI and one belongs to India One. All four ATMs are located on the Cuddalore - Chittoor road with on an average of around 20 kms in distance between each robbed ATM. The loot happened around 2 a.m. Gas welding machine was used to break the chest boxes in all the ATMs. After looting the money, the suspects set fire to the machines.
Eight special teams have been formed and the police suspect the gang of burglars who used a car for the loot, hailed from Haryana. Intense vehicle search is on along the State borders.
