General Observers for five Assembly constituencies in Tirunelveli district arrive
General Observers for five Assembly constituencies in the district – Tirunelveli, Ambasamudram, Palayamkottai, Nanguneri and Radhapuram – arrived here on Wednesday and had meeting with the District Collector R. Sukumar and the Returning Officers of these segments at the Collectorate.
While Dr. Hrishikesh Bhaskar Yashod, a medical doctor and 2006 batch Indian Administrative Service officer of Uttar Pradesh cadre, will be the General Observer for Tirunelveli and Palayamkottai Assembly constituencies, Anubha Shrivatsava, a 2009 Indian Administrative Service officer of Madhya Pradesh cadre, will take care of Ambasamudram, Nanguneri and Radhapuram Assembly segments.
Explaining about the arrangements being made for the Apri 23 polling, Dr. Sukumar narrated the EVMs kept ready for the polling, works done at the polling booths, senior citizens above the age of 85 who are eligible for postal votes, steps taken so far for ensuring the physically challenged electorate to cast their votes, implementation of model code of conduct, election awareness exercise to ensure 100% polling, arrangements at Tirunelveli Government Engineering College, the counting centre, activities of the flying and static squads etc.
After reviewing the poll arrangements, Dr. Yashod and Ms. Anubha visited the election control room and media monitoring room at the Collectorate and checked the complaints received so far, recording of the complaints and the action taken on the complaints.
Superintendent of Police V. Prassannakumar, Corporation Commissioner and Returning Officer for Palayamkottai Assembly constituency Monika Rana, District Revenue Officer M. Durai, Sub-Collector, Cheranmahadevi and Returning Officer of Ambasamudram Assembly constituency, Returning Officers and Assistant Returning Officers of other Assembly segments participated in this meeting.
