Google Doodle celebrated International Women’s Day with a special animated slideshow on March 8. International Women's Day is celebrated on March 8 around the world. Today’s doodle was illustrated by Doodle Art Director, Thoka Maer. The animated slideshow features women in their diverse roles in society - from homemakers to scientists.
As the animated slideshow begins, you can see a mother busy working on her laptop with her baby cradled in one arm. Then one of the slides shows a woman in a hospital directing a surgery. Another woman is seen watering plants.

"Today’s annual International Women’s Day Doodle is an animated slideshow that transports us around the world to give a glimpse into the everyday lives of women across different cultures," the description on Google Doodle’s page reads.
“From a mother working from home to a motorcycle mechanic teaching her skills to the next generation, each illustration depicted in today’s Doodle is connected by the common thread of how women show up for themselves, their families, and their communities,” the description further reads.

Women are treated in the new penal code as being on the same level as "slaves", with provisions allowing either "slave masters" or husbands to administer discretionary punishment, including beatings, to their wives or subordinates.
