Google Doodle celebrated Japanese educator and biochemist Michiyo Tsujimura’s 133rd birthday with a special graphic on September 17. It is because of Michiyo Tsujimura’s research that science has an answer to why green tea tastes so bitter when steeped for too long.
Born on September 17, 1888, in Okegawa, Saitama Prefecture, Japan, Michiyo Tsujimura spent her early career teaching science. She aspired to become a scientific researcher and that materialised in 1920 when she began analysing the nutritional properties of Japanese silkworms at Hokkaido Imperial University.
