FS Shringla holds 'productive discussion' with Lankan PM Mahinda Rajapaksa

Foreign Secretary Harsh Vardhan Shringla on Monday called on Sri Lankan Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa and held a "productive discussion" with him on further consolidating the multifaceted bilateral partnership.
Mr. Shringla arrived in Sri Lanka on Saturday on and is also expected to meet President Gotabaya Rajapaksa and review the bilateral ties between India and the island nation.
"Foreign Secretary @harshvshringla called on HE Mahinda Rajapaksa @PresRajapaksa today and had a productive discussion on further consolidating the multifaceted India-Sri Lanka partnership," the Indian High Commission here said in a tweet along with a photo of the meeting.
Around 440 MBBS graduates of 2021 are not required to undergo one year of compulsory rural service as per the bond signed by them while joining the medical course through government-quota seats in 2015 as the High Court of Karnataka has said the law, enacted in 2012 for mandatory rural service, remained unenforced for 10 years as it was published in the official gazette only in July 2022.
