Flying squad teams flagged off in Theni: Collector
Flagging off the flying squad teams shortly after the Election Commission of India (ECI) announced the poll schedule, Theni District Collector-cum-Returning Officer Ranjith Singh said on Sunday that they have deployed adequate manpower across all the four districts as per the ECI guidelines.
The model code of conduct (MCC) has come into existence and all the norms would be strictly adhered to by the poll officials, he said and added that the district, which has four Assembly Constituencies - Andipatti, Periakulam (Res), Bodinayakannur and Cumbum, has been provided with Returning Officers and Assistant Returning Officers.
The Collector and officials said, they have inspected the specially installed control room at the Collectorate. The public may write on thenimcc2026@gmail.com or call at 1800 425 4269 and lodge complaints or suggestions about the poll related issues.
The District Election Officer said that each Assembly Constituency would have three flying squad teams (FST) and Andipatti would have one more extra, thus taking the total FSTs to 13. Likewise, static surveillance teams (SST) and video surveillance teams (VST) would be deployed.
There are totally seven check posts, which includes four in the district border and three in Kerala border.
Training had been imparted to all the officers in-charge of the elections and Mr Ranjith Singh said that special check posts would monitor entry and exit of vehicular movements.
