Join the two-day international conference on Circular Economy at St. Aloysius University, Mangaluru, starting March 17.
St. Aloysius Deemed to be University, Mangaluru and Mar Baselios Christian College of Engineering and Technology, Kuttikkanam, Kerala, are set to jointly organise a two-day inter-disciplinary international conference on ‘Circular Economy: Multi-Regional Perspectives to Innovation, Policy and Practice’ at the university from Tuesday.
The conference has been organised for academicians and experts to explore the concept of a “circular economy” from multiple angles. The Pro-Chancellor of the university, Melwin J. Pinto, will preside over the inaugural session.
The first day of the conference will have seven parallel technical sessions along with the presentation of 45 research papers. The second day of the conference will focus on engineering and circularity — a redefinition of how people design, produce, and consume, a release from the university said.
In engineering, the transition demands moving away from disposable products toward systems that prioritise longevity, reusability, and material recovery. It requires collaboration across industries, supportive policies, and a cultural shift towards valuing sustainability over convenience. Interdisciplinary exploration is the need of the hour, the release added.
