CRS inspects newly laid double line on K-K route

CRS inspects newly constructed electrified double line on K-K route, confirming readiness for full-fledged commissioning and operational safety.
Brijesh Kumar Mishra, Commissioner of Railway Safety (CRS), South Eastern Circle, conducted a thorough inspection on Sunday of the newly constructed and electrified 9 km double line between Karakavalasa - Shimiliguda stations, in connection with the doubling project of the crucial Kottavalasa-Kirandul (K-K) line.
The new section has been laid with 60-kg rails, and has major, minor bridges and curves which have been all been constructed to conform to a 25 tonne axle load. Speed trials were conducted successfully, following which authorisation was granted for taking up full-fledged commissioning.
Lalit Bohra, Divisional Railway Manager, Waltair, Chief Administrative Officer/ Construction/ Visakhapatnam Ankush Gupta, Chief Bridge Engineer Ashok Kumar, Chief Engineer/ Construction Srinivasa Rao, Principal Executive Director, Chief Signal Engineer, Chief Signal & Telecom Engineer/ Construction, Deputy CRS officers and other officers from the division accompanied the CRS during the inspection.
As a part of the project, several traffic facilities in the section including new cross-overs laid at station yards, high level platforms, and bridges were also inspected by the CRS, informed K. Pavan Kumar, Senior Divisional Commercial Manager, Waltair. The doubling of the line between Karakavalasa - Shimiliguda stations has been achieved due to the hard work done by civil engineering, signal and telecom and electrical departments of the construction organisation in close coordination and operations and traffic planning by the Waltair Division, he added.
