Minister R.S. Rajakannappan blames the BJP for forcing women back to wood-fired stoves due to LPG shortages and price hikes.
Minister for Forests and Khadi R.S. Rajakannappan charged that women were being severely affected as the Union government has created a situation that has forced a return to the use of traditional wood-fired stoves.
Under the leadership of the DMK-led Secular Progressive Alliance, a protest was held in Ramanathapuram on Sunday to condemn the shortage of domestic and commercial LPG (cooking gas).
Mr. Rajakannappan, said, “The shortage of domestic and commercial gas is a result of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s flawed foreign policy and the failure to take precautionary measures.”
Due to this shortage and the price hike, poor, needy, and middle-class families, especially women, have been deeply affected.
The shortage of commercial gas cylinders has severely impacted small and micro-businesses such as tea shops, eateries, and pushcart vendors, leaving them without trade or income, he added.
“The Centre is refusing to provide Tamil Nadu’s rightful funds, including those for education, the 100-day work scheme (MGNREGA), and drinking water projects. The people of Tamil Nadu will teach a lesson in the upcoming elections to the NDA and its ally, the AIADMK, who continue to betray the state in this manner, ensuring their defeat,” he added.
