Celebrating the birth anniversary of freedom fighter Va.Ve.Su. Iyer with a visit to his house and a branch library.
The birth anniversary of late freedom fighter Va.Ve.Su. Iyer was celebrated here on Wednesday.
Collector M. Pradeep Kumar visited the house of the freedom fighter at Varaganeri and offered flowers to his portrait. Born on April 2, 1881, Va.Ve.Su. Iyer, also known as the Lion of Varaganeri, was an advocate and renowned freedom fighter. The house where he lived at Varaganeri was nationalised and a memorial was established there.
Mr. Pradeep Kumar also visited a branch library and interacted with candidates preparing for competitive examinations. If necessary, additional books would be supplied to the library, he said.
The library had about 40,000 books, an official release said.

“Judicial time is a valuable public resource. Every frivolous or misconceived invocation of constitutional jurisdiction results in diversion of time from genuinely deserving litigants,” said the Madurai Bench of the Madras High Court while imposing a cost of ₹50,000 on a man from Theni district who filed a petition with an unusual prayer: permission to conduct daily protests till the ‘World War’ ends.
