In a statement, the police said case was registered in Kankanady police station in December 2025 over sharing of inflammatory posts on the social media, following murder of former Bajarang Dal activist Suhas Shetty.
During the investigation, the police found that communally sensitive posts by Instagram account holder “TN-MADDY”. After delay, intermediaries gave details about the account holder, who was found to be Acharya. A team of Kankanady police arrested Acharya on Wednesday and produced him before the court, which remanded him to 14 days of judicial custody.
Acharya is the third accused arrested by Kankanady police in connection with the inflammatory posts case. Acharya has also been booked for inflammatory social media post by the Udupi’s Kaup police, the Kankanady police said.

“Judicial time is a valuable public resource. Every frivolous or misconceived invocation of constitutional jurisdiction results in diversion of time from genuinely deserving litigants,” said the Madurai Bench of the Madras High Court while imposing a cost of ₹50,000 on a man from Theni district who filed a petition with an unusual prayer: permission to conduct daily protests till the ‘World War’ ends.
