Bengaluru corporations will present five separate budgets on March 27-28, focusing on infrastructure and community funding.
The Greater Bengaluru Authority (GBA) on Wednesday announced that the city corporations will present their respective budgets on Friday and Saturday (March 27 and 28). With this official announcement, for the first time, Bengaluru will witness five separate budgets for the city.
The corporations will present the budgets within their respective jurisdictions, and for the first time, NGOs will be allowed to attend the presentations.
According to reliable sources, the total budget outlay is expected to exceed ₹21,000 crore, with the West Corporation having the highest outlay, driven by funds from the government. The North Corporation will also receive a big share of government funding.
On Wednesday, Deputy Chief Minister and Bengaluru Development in-charge D.K. Shivakumar said that the State government would provide financial assistance to corporations running a budget deficit.
Speaking to reporters at Vidhana Soudha, Mr. Shivakumar said, “The five corporations under GBA will present their own budgets. We have had detailed discussions with the city’s MLAs. As budget-making is decentralised, the funds of each corporation will be used within that corporation. If a corporation faces a shortage of funds, the State government will assist”.
A GBA official told The Hindu that all corporations will have a separate allocation for footpaths in their respective budgets. Parks and lakes have also been prioritised this time.

“Judicial time is a valuable public resource. Every frivolous or misconceived invocation of constitutional jurisdiction results in diversion of time from genuinely deserving litigants,” said the Madurai Bench of the Madras High Court while imposing a cost of ₹50,000 on a man from Theni district who filed a petition with an unusual prayer: permission to conduct daily protests till the ‘World War’ ends.
