Students and women’s self-help groups in Madurai engage in vibrant voter awareness campaigns promoting 100% voting participation.
Students and women self help groups on Wednesday participated in the voter awareness campaigns held across Madurai district.
At Yadava College, over 300 students participated in an awareness rally carrying placards with the messages such as ‘My Vote, My Right’, ‘My Vote is Not for Sale’, ‘Let’s Ensure 100 % Voting’. The college’s faculty members were also present. They took out a rally from the college premises to Thiruppalai.
Madurai Collector K.J. Praveen Kumar participated in the ‘Samathuva Pongal’ organised by women self help groups in Chettikulam. Traditional Kummi dance were performed and bullock carts were decorated, and bullock cart rides were taken out to create voter awareness.
A total of 51 pots were ceremoniously arranged to form ‘VOTE 100 %’, to achieve 100 % voter turnout in the Assembly elections. Other traditional martial art forms like Silambam were also performed showcasing strength, discipline, and culture.

“Judicial time is a valuable public resource. Every frivolous or misconceived invocation of constitutional jurisdiction results in diversion of time from genuinely deserving litigants,” said the Madurai Bench of the Madras High Court while imposing a cost of ₹50,000 on a man from Theni district who filed a petition with an unusual prayer: permission to conduct daily protests till the ‘World War’ ends.
