Dog show begins in Ooty

The Ooty dog show features obedience tests and specialty shows judged by experts, part of a larger summer festival.
The Ooty dog show kicked off on Friday with the obedience tests for dogs at the Government Arts College grounds in Udhagamandalam.
According to the event organisers, 45 dogs participated in the obedience tests that were judged by J. Rangarajan. In addition to the obedience tests, 30 entries participated in the beagle speciality show, 60 in the Indian breeds speciality show and 70 in the Dachshund speciality show. The beagle speciality show and the Indian breeds speciality show was judged by D. Krishnamurthy, while the Dachshund speciality show was judged by Gopikrishna, the organisers of the event stated.
The dog show will continue on Saturday and Sunday with the 136th and 137th ‘All Breeds Dog Show’ and the ‘Vetri Duraisamy and Murthy Memorial Dog Shows’. Present at the event was Rajini Krishnamurthy, president of the South of India Kennel Club, which is organising the event.
Hundreds of visitors thronged the Government Arts College grounds as the summer festival kicks off in earnest with the Spices Show to be held in Gudalur and the Annual Flower Show at the Government Rose Garden over the course of the weekend.
