Mr. Venkatesan speaking at the protest said that the amendment was a huge blow to the principle of secularism which was conceived as the heart of the Indian Constitution.
The amendment which was brought with a motive to treat Muslims as a second-grade citizens would gradually engulf Christians and Adivasis into it to grab their properties and lands, he added.
Commenting the amendment as just a beginning to their motive, he stated that it should be stopped before it could remove the rights of the the citizens of our country.
Welcoming the move by the Supreme Court to halt the appointment of non-Muslims to Waqf boards till the next day of hearing, he said that it was a time-being relief.

After mandating pet dog licensing and microchipping, Greater Chennai Corporation (GCC) bids to do the same for cattle to curb stray cattle issues and man-animal conflicts in the streets.
