The Communist Party of India (Marxist) has opposed the hike in travel fares of private buses in Dakshina Kannada and Udupi. In addition to holding a protest at Hampankatta Junction in the city on July 7 the party will hold agitations at 50 places in the city from July 5 to July 12 seeking a rollback of the fares, according to Sunil Kumar Bajal, secretary of Mangaluru City South unit of the party. The private bus operators have hiked the fares unilaterally and the district administrations have approved them without holding public consultations. The hike has come at a time when people are yet to recover from the impact of lock down and COVID-19, he said in a release.More Related News
