Mohan Limbikai urges graduates to register as voters during the ongoing third round of voter registration in Hubballi.
Congress candidate for the West Graduates’ constituency, Mohan Limbikai, has urged eligible graduates to register themselves as the third round of voter registration is currently under way.
Addressing presspersons in Hubballi on February 9, Mr. Limbikai said several applications are being rejected owing to incomplete details and documentation issues.
He urged officials to ensure that applicants’ addresses and contact numbers are mentioned in the list of rejected applications, so that party workers can easily reach out to them to take remedial measures.
The Congress candidate also pointed out that many applications from women were being rejected owing to changes in names and addresses after marriage. He advised applicants to submit the required documents, including Form 18, voter ID, degree or convocation certificate, or marks cards of the last three years, along with relevant marriage documents such as an affidavit, registration certificate or invitation card, duly attested by a gazetted officer.
Expressing dismay over nearly 8,000 votes getting rejected in the previous election due to improper voting, Mr. Limbikai explained how to cast the vote in a correct manner and said that an awareness campaign will be held in this regard.
Lingaraj Angadi, president of Dharward Zilla Kannada Sahitya Parishat, and others emphasised the need to extend support to Mr. Limbikai, taking into consideration his prior experience in public life.
