All Party Trade Unions hold a motorcycle rally in Visakhapatnam, demanding the recall of Labour Codes ahead of a general strike.
Workers from different sectors took out a motorcycle rally on Monday (February 09, 2026), under the aegis of All Party Trade Unions, demanding recall of the four Labour Codes, withdrawal of the move to privatise PSU s, and allotment of captive mines to Visakhapatnam Steel Plant (VSP).
Addressing the workers before the commencement of the rally, CITU State general secretary Ch. Narasinga Rao said that the Modi government has converted 29 Labour Laws into four Labour Codes to benefit the managements and corporate groups. If these codes were implemented, workers would lose all their rights.
He alleged that the labour codes would result in increased working hours, increased work load, fixed-term employment in place of permanent employment, non-implementation of minimum wages, lack of job security and lack of protection to women workers.
He said that trade unions, representing all sectors of workers, have already served strike notices to make the February 12 general strike a success. Banks, insurance, transport, and other sectors would be paralysed on that day. He said that over 30 crore workers were expected to participate in the strike.
AITUC district general secretary Atchyutha Rao demanded payment of ₹26,000 as minimum wages and provision of job security to workers.
CITU district general secretary RKSV Kumar sought that those serving under various government schemes like ASHA workers, Anganwadi, Midday Meal Scheme, VOA, RP and School sanitation workers should be recognised as government staff. He also demanded extension of the benefit of PF, ESI, insurances to Autorickshaw workers, building workers, pushcart vendors, hospital and shopping mall workers.
